Seminar ini adalah kelanjutan dari seminar yang diadakan pada bulan Oktober 2011 yang lalu, dan topic kali ini adalah: Perspective of the different libraries – Perspektif terbaru dari Perpustakaan yang berbeda dalam pembahasan perencanaan, teknologi terbaru yang dipakai dan aplikasinya dalam penggunaannya.
Pembahasan ini akan mengacu kepada betapa pentingnya peran Pustakawan sekolah dalam membantu pembelajaran berbasis penelitian(research) yang efektif dan efisien. Selain itu dalam seminar ini akan juga dibahas mengenai Calibre-sebuah software gratis yang akan sangat membantu Pustakawan untuk proses pembelian buku secara online juga sharing mengenai peranan teknologi yang baru seperti Kindle,Kobo dan iPad dalam peranan perpustakaan. Sebagai tambahan informasi acara, topic kali ini adalah sharing dari Ms Maria yang baru menghadiri Seminar Perpustakaan Sekolah di HongKong.

Sebagai Pembicara adalah Ms Maria Fe Nicolau yang adalah Kepala Perpustakaan Sekolah Binus-Simprug.

The U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya is seeking individual for the position of Information Resources Center (IRC) Director for the Public Affairs Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Director of the Information Resource Center (IRC) provides research for Consulate activities under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Officer and in coordination with IRC Jakarta. She/he provides research, collection development, outreach and promotion of Consulate activities, IRC Jakarta goals, and Public Affairs Section (PAS) Programs as well as general IRC products and services to target audiences and consulate staff. Works closely with PAS staff and other agencies within the wider Consulate community to identify and meet their information needs. Develops and maintains key contacts to support and promote community libraries and support PAS outreach activities. Provides support to the American Corner network under the leadership of IRC Jakarta as well as community libraries with outreach products and training on how to use the products, and selected programs. Develops and maintains ongoing direct personal contact with high-level target audiences (government officials, journalists, academics, and NGOs etc). Manages and develops outreach programs and the IRC collection (print and electronic). Advises supervisor on methods to advance MSRP goals in coordination with IRC Jakarta through the development of effective outreach programs, services, and information products.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. A Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas of study: American Studies, Library Science, Public Relations, Political Science, International Affairs, English, Education, or Communications.
2. At least two years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to public affairs, communications, library science, education, public service, NGO work, or community outreach. Experience in use of emerging technologies including e-learning, Web 2.0, electronic and social media. Evidence of planning, organizational and problem-solving skills; evidence of initiative and creativity.
3. Level 4 (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in English and level 4 (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in Bahasa Indonesia are required. Language proficiency will be tested.
4. Knowledge of typical Public Affairs Section partner institutions such as universities, educational institutions, and Binational Centers in district. Knowledge of Indonesian information use habits and trends. Knowledge of the Internet and design software applications as well as word processing and graphics. Knowledge of the United States, its society, culture, and government. In-depth knowledge of host country foreign affairs, government, society, education, and legislative priorities.
5. Excellent service orientation, interpersonal, and cross cultural skills. Ability to carry out reference searches and respond rapidly to complex requests, sometimes for breaking news. Ability to maintain a tight production schedule. Ability to work effectively with U.S. and foreign national staff; to independently plan, organize, and carry out assigned responsibilities using appropriate print and electronic information resources. Ability to initiate and maintain contact with both U.S. and Indonesian audiences using excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to use computer and Internet applications and tools to create outreach products. Ability to prioritize work schedule on a daily as well as yearly basis. Must be able to work independently.

SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold an FSN security clearance.
